Dr Teo Kejia is an experienced Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon and Director at Precision Neurosurgery. He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgeon (MBBS) degree from the National University of Singapore in 2006. Trained in General Surgery, Dr Teo received his advanced surgical training in Neurosurgery at the National University Hospital Singapore. Subsequently, in 2010, he was conferred the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.
Awarded the National University Hospital Singaporeโs Academic Medicine Development Award (AMDA) in 2013 โ for which Dr Teo underwent two years of further training in Queenโs Hospital, Romford, London โ he was trained in functional neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, neurovascular, skull base and spinal surgery. He was also elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Surgical Neurology) in 2015.
Dr Teo continued his fellowship training in brain mapping, awake surgery, oncological neurosurgery, and low-grade glioma surgery with two world-renowned neurosurgeons: Professor Lorenzo Bello at the Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan โ Italy and Professor Hugues Duffau at Gui De Chauliac Hospital, Montpellier โ France.
Dr Teo has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of neurosurgery, with a particular focus on complex brain tumour procedures. He is adept in employing advanced surgical techniques, including brain mapping and awake brain surgery, especially for treating gliomas and glioblastomas. His expertise extends to neuro-oncology, encompassing both brain and spinal tumours, as well as neurovascular and skull base surgery. Additionally, Dr Teo offers treatment for a range of neurological conditions, such as traumatic head injuries, intracerebral aneurysms, and degenerative spine disorders, which include neck and back pain. He is also proficient in managing ischemic and haemorrhagic strokes, hydrocephalus, trigeminal neuralgia, and hemifacial spasm.
Dr Teo is passionate about enhancing patient care and enjoys educating and nurturing aspiring medical professionals. He serves as an undergraduate educator, faculty member and an appointed examiner at NUS. Dr Teo is also an international member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, a local board member of the Chapter of Neurosurgeons and a member of the Singapore Spine Society. Dr Teoโs research pursuits include brain tumour surgeries, gamma knife surgery, stem cell research and therapy.
Additionally, Dr Teo actively participates in medical conferences and public talks, sharing his insights and advancements in the field. He was featured in a Channel News Asia Documentary, โLife Lineโ. He was also a medical advisor for the Brain Tumour Society Singapore. He is also appointed as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery for National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
